Visiting our Libraries
All Maitland Libraries reopened on Tuesday 18 Oct 2021. This includes East Maitland Library, Maitland Library, Rutherford Library and Thornton Library.
From Oct 18 the opening hours are

Rutherford and Thornton

Our services will include access to library collections, Justice of the Peace, printing, scanning and copying.
Public access computers are available for use at all branches.
The Click and Collect service is available to our library members within the Maitland Local Government Area (LGA).
Government regulations require us to limit numbers in our libraries. The maximum number of visitors permitted is different in each of our branches, depending on the size of the library.
As per the NSW Government Reopening NSW roadmap and Public Health Orders, valid forms of evidence of double vaccination status or a medical exemption is required for entry from anyone over the age of 16.
There is a COVID Safety Plan with COVID Safe measures in place, QR Code check in, social distancing and mask wearing required.
All financial transactions will be processed via EFTPOS.
Yes – our Click and Collect service will continue to be available. If you haven’t tried Click and Collect, simply use any of the following options and we’ll notify you when your selection is ready to collect from one of our branches.

For parents and carers of young children, whilst we won't be holding our Baby Book Club or Storytime session just yet, we are excited to see you and hear how you are going.
From November, we will be offering a curated loan pack along with some little surprises to all our BBC and Storytime participants.
Programs for adults including Look Who’s Talking, continue to be held online.
Due to current physical distancing restrictions, our meeting rooms are limited to bookings for one to one meetings. We will announce when our meeting rooms become available for groups larger than 2 participants.
Public access computers are available from 18 Oct 2021.
