Philippe Sands

Philippe – a professor of law and practising barrister who has worked on international cases involving Pinochet, Yugoslavia and Rwanda – joins Janice Petersen to discuss this page-turning detective story, which encompasses a mysterious death, spies, Nazi hunters, dark forces within the Vatican and a son grappling with his father’s sins.

Philippe Sands (International)
Philippe Sands QC is Professor of Law at University College London and a practising barrister. He is author of Lawless World and Torture Team and numerous academic books. His last book, East West Street won numerous prizes, including the Baillie Gifford Prize and the Prix Montaigne. His new book is The Ratline: Love, Lies and Justice on the Trail of a Nazi Fugitive, follows a 10-part BBC podcast and radio series. He is President of English PEN and a member of the Board of the Hay Festival.
Janice Petersen (Australian)
Janice Petersen has spent more than 15 years working as a cross-platform journalist and news presenter, and currently presents SBS World News. Janice brings to SBS a strong background in journalism after many years at the ABC where she reported on and covered breaking news events right across Australia. In her current role, she regularly interviews leading news makers, presents live reports and delivers breaking national and international news stories. Janice has also lent her presenting skills to landmark SBS programs including iconic forum series Insight and co-hosted Go Back To Where You Came From Live.
