Write Now! Children's Literary Award
Write Now! is an exciting opportunity for children aged 5-12 years to develop their writing skills and be in the running for some great cash prizes.
This year the theme of Write Now! is I woke up in the library..... Great prizes are on offer and writing workshops for children will be held in each of our branch libraries during May.
Write Now! Competition opens 2 April and closes on 15 June 2018. Winners are announced in a special awards presentation during Children's Book Week in August.
Write Now! is presented by Maitland City Library in partnership with Friends of Maitland City Library and the University of Newcastle.
Entry packs can be downloaded or collected from any Maitland City Library branch from April.
Writing workshops are held at every library branch during May to assist entrants in developing their stories and include the following topics:
- Workshop 1 - Researching your topic and choosing a text type for your audience
- Workshop 2 - Constructing your text, including drafting, revising and conferencing
- Workshop 3 - Editing, publishing and presenting your writing diary
The Write Now! Children’s Literary award is sponsored by the Friends of Maitland City Library in partnership with Maitland City Library and the University of Newcastle's Faculty of Education.
The award encourages literacy development, fosters creativity and promotes pride in achievement for children of the local area.
