ANZACS in Greece - the untold stories
Images of largely untold stories of sacrifice, heroism and despair are displayed in the ANZACS in Greece- The Untold stories exhibition.
This exhibition by the Joint Committee for the Commemoration of the Battle of Crete and the Greek Campaigns aims to provide information about the Mediterranean campaigns of 1941 with a focus on ANZACs and their participation in the little talked about Battles for Greece & Crete. A number of never before published photographs and documents are to be included.
To compliment the display there will be a special Look Who’s Talking Local History event The Forgotten Flotilla on 19 April. Join Dr Michael James Bendon, archaeologist and military historian, as he reveals the story of a recently discovered flotilla that made a crucial contribution to the Allied Mediterranean campaigns in 1941.
