Local author showcase

Three local authors showcase their works

We shine the light on some of our local authors in this special showcase event, featuring Howard Kiel, Tony Palfreeman and Megan Ellam, giving an insight into their writing journeys

Howard Kiel

Night of a Thousand

Thirty years’ experience in forensic work has given local
author Howard Kiel unique insights into the criminal
mind and the inner workings of the justice system.
Turning his experience into fiction, Kiel’s first novel Night of a
Thousand Whispers is a fast-paced mystery.

Tony Palfreeman

From the Whangpoo to

Part memoir and part historical reflections, From the Whangpoo to the Wollombi recounts local author Tony Palfreeman’s
childhood and adult life living and working in China, South Africa,
Hong Kong and Switzerland. He offers a compelling
argument for hope, decency and peace despite the
increasing violence and growing inequalities in the world.

Megan Ellam

Food blogger, recipe creator and local author, Megan Ellam has turned personal struggles into a mission to help others. Struggling with obesity, Megan changed to a low carb ketogenic lifestyle.
Not only did she lose 30 kgs, she turned her low carbohydrate, healthy fat recipes into a successful website and has self-published 3 cookbooks, Real Food Real Fast, Flavour and Savour, as well as 6 e-cookbooks.
